Default DAE errors -9161 and -9162

G5 dual Gig, OS 10.3.2, PT 6.2.2, Magma 64 -bit chassis

Boot from one FW 400 drive, record to another FW 400 drive

I can record 7 tracks at 96K fine, but playback locks up system. Digitest reports OK.

At first I got the above DAE errors, but now hitting play just locks up system. I cannot recover using ctrl-opt-esc.

I had the same issues for a long time, and finally found out I had a faulty HD core card (although DigiTest didn't detect it). Once replaced, everything was ok again.

Thanks, Tal! We've replaced the HD core once already when we installed the system on a G4. This time we moved the system and 64-bit chassis to a G5. We seem to have narrowed it down to one of the cables for the chassis, but if it flakes out at all again, the core card will be going back again. Like your experience, Digitest shows no problem. We've swapped the chassis, put the core card in the G5 (it worked), swapped cables, tried different card setups and after spending most of the day troubleshooting, it's either a cable or the card (we actually had the 32-bit chassis working, but that only takes one cable, so we were able to swap cables).

Thanks again for your info...I hate hardware problems the most!
