Default D-Show standalone editor 2.8 and 2.7 on same PC?

Hi, before I install the 2.8.1 D-Show editor on my VMWare Fusion XP PC, can anyone tell me if it will replace the 2.7.1 version or can I have both installed at the same time? I realise that apparently the new version is backwards compatible (apart from the new features of course) but until most Venue's have the upgrade I think I'd rather keep the old editor working for now.

Many thanks, David

Hi,

Unfortunately it's not possible to have both v2.7 and v2.8 installed at the same time. Files created with v2.7 are fully compatible with version 2.8, and files created with v2.8 are backwards compatible with v2.7, so it's really up to you as to which way to go.

Hi Remy,

A few folks have had a similar issue, as described on this thread: http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=261946

Please post more details about your system: OS (both Mac and Win, including Service Pack), Parallels version, etc.

Sheldon

Thank you Sheldon, I suspected that might be the case. I think I'll hang on until I know I'm going to be using a V2.8 console. All the best, David
