Default smooth clip gain edit transitions?

I thought that there was a new way to smooth abrupt clip gain transitions. But I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone point me to the command that smooths 90 degree transitions in the clip gain line?

I hope I didn't just imagine that this exists. I love clip gain, but I hate the little clicks in the audio that it introduces.

CTRL+shift+x will make a ramp even without the clip gain line visible

I usually just option-click with the smart tool to remove the breakpoint at the corner of the right angle. But I am usually doing a lot of fine tuning of dialog using clip gain and the smart tool, and I rarely just highlight a section and trim it up or down, in part because of the right angles.

Sometimes, adding a cross-fade can smooth volume transitions

As Dave points out, if you're using clip gain on a per-clip basis (which is the only way I'll use it) then short equal-gain xfades at the clip transitions will prevent clicks.

Thanks Rich, and Dave. I actually didn't understand Dave's suggestion, but the way you (Rich) explained it makes it clear. From now on I'll separate clips before applying clip gain.
