Pro T Aggr I/O & Ross Martin PCM1794 USB + HP
Hello P T 10 Users,
I have a great analogue mic pre and found a great A/D for it (but it has many types of digital outs but not the ones I need, firewire or usb)so I have to buy which needs a external USB converter, all made my Ross Martin. I am sure many of you are using your outboard pres somehow with Pro Tools and now has come the time for me to research how to do it. the converter specs are: PCM4222 ADC Analog To Digital Converter. 32, 44.1,48, 88.2, 96, and 192 Sample Rates Bit Depth 24,20,18,16 Word Clock Out Master Clock Out/In Selectable Filter Response Led VU Meters With Overflow Indicators. LME49724 op amps AES, SPDIF COAX and Optical Outs. Balanced XLR and 1/4” TRS the external box that will give me a usb out is basically this: PCM1794A Dual “Bare Beast” Two Optical, Two SPDIF,AES, 96Khz/24Bit USB plus TPA6120 Headphone. Balanced XLR and RCA Outs So my question is- will pro tools 10 aggregate in out recognize this? probably needs some kind of driver?!? I also wrote to Ross and am waiting a response. Thanks for the attention |

Interesting- there's a thread in the PT 10 for Mac OS where people say that the aggregate function doesn't work in Pro Tools. I have a hard time believing that-
anyone ever used it? |

Re: Pro T Aggr I/O & Ross Martin PCM1794 USB + HP
Hello all.
I'm using a focusrite solo interface and also a audio technica 2020 usb mic (on pc). the mic works wonderfully with 'asio for all' drivers although I had to go back to the download site and install what they call the offline manager in order to have a view of available devices and the ability to select or deselect them. the interface works great with the manufacturers supplied driver. however wishing to use both the interface and mic simultaneously and after a certain amount of trial and error I found only the asio driver capable of accommodating both devices. unfortunately this was at the expense of the sound quality from the interface which ended up something like gravel being raked over a drum. might try this aggregate functionality thing someone mentioned. |
