Default Crackling when bouncing mix

Hi, really quick question here.

I have a Pro Tools session that when I bounce to wav, crackling is introduced at a certain section of the song. The crackling is not audible in the session itself. I have around 5 to 6 db of headroom on the master fader at the loudest section, so clipping seems to be out of the question. I'm using PT11, and the session is 24 bit 44.1k yadayadayada...

I've already checked other songs, and there is no crackling, just one specific bounced session will do it at a point.

Any clue what the problem is?

Thank you for any help! Sorry if this is vague, I'm fairly new.

Did you try increasing the H/W buffer size in setup/audio engine?

Already maxed out, probably should have noted that.

I actually tried doing a realtime bounce (instead of my normal offline). The crackling is gone. While I'm happy my problem is solved, I'd still like to know why the crackling was there in the first place.

The mix I was bouncing wasn't anything special, and had a normal amount of plugins. I thought PT11 was supposed to have a good offline bounce

Welcome to these forums.

What is your setup? Mac? PC? Exact Pro Tools version (11.x.x)?
