This is just one of many problems I experience with Pro Tools anymore. I am really starting to hate Avid.

Hi,

I just ran into this today setting up a new iMac. Of course the iMac comes with Yosemite, so can I even install and then run/update and early version than 11.3???

It really does suck that basically external MIDI devices have been forgotten about.

Avid could take some MIDI classes over at MOTU.

"DP lately so the I have access to all my patch lists there.."

MIDI Patch names.....We should not have to find this stuff in 2015!

My hope is that they fix this in a maintenance release before PT12 is released. Otherwise it's see ya'.

I've just installed PT12 and noticed that I'm STILL unable to load midi patch names. Anyone having success in PT12?

Or has anyone found an EASY fix?

Default MIDI Patch Names

Has anyone had any success loading MIDI Patch Names into PT12?
I'm banging my head against a brick wall here.

Save your head... PT 11 had problems with midnam files and I have the feeling that the problem still exists in PT 12.

I don't think outboard MIDI is very high on the list. It's probably the same workaround for 12 if you can install 10 on your machine. Search on patch lists and it will come up. Unfortunately if you're on Yosemite you can't install 10 so you're SOL unless you feel like switching to Windows. I think it's pitiful that they haven't fixed this - it's been over two years. It's one thing for new features not to work well, but another when you break stuff that's been working for years.

Unfortunately I'm on Yosemite. I really rely heavily on these patch names working, and knowing this bug from PT11 hasn't been fixed certainly makes my shoulders slump. I wish PT10 worked on Yosemite!

I think it's time to find a more solid platform where I can get some work done.

DP8 has fully functional patch lists on the Mac and PC. They have a demo if you care to check it out.
