Re: USD screws up my system
After launching ProTools, what does your DSP Resources window show?
Is the 1st Farm missing? Or is it just the interface not showing up? Have you reset I/O labels? On your USD: What is the firmware? When you power it up, it will display "CODE _____" - what does it show? 501? Also, do you have the Video Ref terminator installed on the upper Video Ref connector on the USD? |

Re: USD screws up my system
The whole farm is missing. In digitest the slot the card is in shows empty. In PT there are only two interfaces listed.
USD Firmware is 5.0.1 I do not have the terminator installed but since I'm not using video ref I didn't think it would matter. USD is in internal ref. I may give that a try though.. thanks for the suggestion. All gear was purchased in the last week or so. I'm waiting for my Aardsync generator. Also, to clarify what I said before, if I power down and go back to the non-USD setup, the farm reappears with no further changes. |

Re: USD screws up my system
What if you plug the Superclock from the USD directly in to the ADAT Bridge on the vanishing Farm, not going through the 1622?

USD screws up my system
I'm setting up a new system as follows:
G4 Dual500, stock graphics card, 1 mix core card, 2 mix farm cards, no scsi card, OS9.1. [let's just say for now that I'm not trying to record or playback any audio -- just virtual mixer] 1622 interface on core card, 2 24-bit ADAT bridges on farm cards. Now, the system seems all fine when I 1622 is on internal clock and I send slave clock to both ADAT bridges. I even have a PCM91 on SPDIF of 1st ADAT bridge to use an insert. So, now I try to get the USD in on this. I power down and connect as follows: USD to Digiserial port on Mix Core card. Superclock out of USD to 1622 then to 1st ADAT bridge, then to 2nd ADAT bridge. I power up the USD then the interfaces and boot up. Now, PT will not see the 1st farm card. Also digitest will not see the first farm card. Sounds bizarre, but it's completely repeatable. Any ideas? -Casey |

Re: USD screws up my system
good idea,
also you could try reversing the position of the 2 farms. See if the problem follows the farm or the 1st Adat Bridge. |

Re: USD screws up my system
Thanks for the suggestions. I won't be able to do any more testing until later in the week, but I'll post the results when I do.

Re: USD screws up my system
Hello!
Well, not that anyone is particularly interested, but thought I'd follow up. I got my Aardsync and with it supplying 256x clock to the USD and then daisy chaining the interfaces from the USD slave clock out I have no problems. -Casey |
