Device Driver Question for Windows XP
I keep getting this message after I use Pro Tools and try to shut down my computer.
I am working from a Dell Dimension 8100 with Windows XP. The message reads. "The Device Driver for the Digi Design 001 is preventing the machine from entering into hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists you may need to update driver." Each time it happens I am not trying to go into hibernation, I'm just trying to shut down my machine and I never have any other apps open. Any advice? I appreciate any help. |

Re: Device Driver Question for Windows XP
I don't have a DIGI001 but try. Control Panel-Power Options-Hibernate Tag-Untick enable hibernation. See what happens then.

Re: Device Driver Question for Windows XP
When you disable hibernation, you can usually free up a few gigs by hunting down a file caled hiberfil.sys and deleting it. It sometimes speeds up startup too.

Re: Device Driver Question for Windows XP
Ever since I loaded Windows XP my machine will not Shut Down though. I never wanted it to "hibernate" that was just the message I recieved when I would hold in the power button to shut down manually. Otherwise when I try and shut down properly nothing happens at all.
Any ideas? |

Re: Device Driver Question for Windows XP
First check what Funkyghoul suggested and then boot up in your Bios and dig around. If your computer doesn't shut down you may need a Bios update, Check the manufacturers web site.

Re: Device Driver Question for Windows XP
Oops my bad. I did follow his instructions and deslected hibernation. I also looked for the file but it could not be found.
When you say check out the manufacturers website you mean Windows XP or Dell? Thanks! |

Re: Device Driver Question for Windows XP
Dell - check out on the web by putting in your service tag, it will give all the updates. I had a shut down problem with my first Dell that was fixed by updating the bios.
