Default PT 8.0.3 splash screen.

Anyone notice??

The Digidesign logo is gone, replaced by the Avid logo.

I hat to say it but the Avid logo looks a little cheesy... And there is a very small (like 1 pixel) anti-alias line around the logo. I guess the duck will have to go as well. Hmmmm... AUC? Oh no! hehe!

Ugh! Looks like the beginning of the end..
Can Avid be trusted to carry the Pro Tools flame?
Look what they did to video, if it wasn't for them being stupid and dropping Mac from their video hardware/software Apple's Final Cut, which has now become the standard for video editing, probably wouldn't exist and wouldn't be taking business away from them.

Avid has owned, and run Digidesign the last 15 years!!

Mac has never been viable with Avid video!!!

Final Cut now the standard??? Right!!! Maybe to the same people that use PTLE, and complain it costs too much.
Final Cut is the standard for software thieves. Ive seen low budget production offices share one serial number between 8 machines.

Avid is still the feature film industry standard.
Avid has not dropped Mac. Media Composer still runs on Macs. This is the NLE editor of choice.
Digidesign has been run and owned by Avid for quite a long time now.

Final Cut is a loss leader for Apple to sell hardware. It's inroads are in no budget/documentary budget. These are the groups who couldn't afford renting Avid suites. These are also the groups who, as DIAFXMX stated, tend to "share" a license. Final Cut couldn't exist as a stand alone company.

Really, FCP competing with AVID? I bet you're kidding...

FCP is the king of video native-land, the same way Logic is the king of audio native-land (sorry, PTLE is just not flexible enough, hardware-wise) and because both are Mac only they can utilize host hardware *VERY* efficiently.

Do you hear that, Avid? Apple and its AU kills PTLE in performance. Combine that with flexible 3rd party interface options (Apogee anyone) it is not surprising that Logic rules on the hobbyist frontier.

We've been promised RTAS performance improvements over and over again, at least since PT 7.0 but nothing has happened. Too bad you have chosen to support Windows, being Mac only would make it possible to adopt AU which goes closer to the hardware.
