Now i bought a Coolmaster 400watt some time ago and the coolmaster is definitely heavier then they cheap 450 watt power supply that came with case, but I'm just worried that 400watt may be a little to small.

What do you guys think??
What graphics card are you going to use?

I saw that many were able to clock the Q6600 with G0 stepping up to 3.0, but as a perk being a computer salesman now, I'm getting the QX6850 for the same price, so I figured I'd save myself the trouble.

And thanks for the feedback, I'll let you know my results when I get it up and running.

in that case, like blade said, the Q9550 looks REALLY GOOD with the 12MB L2 cache @ 2.83ghz. with the discounts you're gettin' you might get this one somewhere around ZERO!!! get the best of both worlds, L2 cache and speed plus OC'g ability!! and it'll run cooler!! my 2cents

Already picked one up. It's a perk though Intel's retail edge program, and my choices were only the Q6700 or the QX6850. I just plan on picking up an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro for the CPU, I heard they're good.

Shouldn't have a problem with it.

Install WindowsXP at the default BIOS settings, install all of your drivers and run Windows Update.

To enter BIOS hit the Delete key while the machine is POSTing. This will take you to the BIOS setup pages.

MAIN Page

Sata Configuration [ENHANCED]
Configure SATA as [IDE]

Advanced Page

Select [JumperFree Configuration]

And make the following changes

Dram Timing Control[1067]

Set the DRAM Timing control to Manual and verify that the following settings read

CAS# Latency [5 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# to CAS# Delay [5 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# Precharge [5 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# Active Time [15DRAM clocks]

After verifing you memory is set at the proper timing you can hit ESC and return to the JumperFree Configuration page and set the Dram Timing control back to [AUTO]

Select [CPU Configuration]

And make the following changes.

CPU Ratio Control [AUTO]
C1E Suppory [Disabled]
Max CPUID Limit [Disabled]
Vanderpool Tecnology[Disabled]
CPU TM Function [Enabled]
Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]
PECI [Enabled]
Intel SpeedStep [Disabled]

Hit ESC and return to the Advanced Page

Select Onboard Devices

And disable High Definition Audio and anything else your not going to be using... Wireless LAN, Marvell Lan, J-Micron controller ETC.

Hit F10 to save your changes and reboot

Hello again, was wondering if these settings would still be recommended for users using this mainboard but not running the ddr ram @1066, I'm going to be using good quality pc 6400 ram with the intel quad q6600 cpu.

Lastly i was wondering if there was any major difference in using xp home or pro with pro tools, I have the option of installing either one.

should be set to your dram's specs (timings and speed). for 6400 it will probably be...

Dram Timing Control[800]

Set the DRAM Timing control to Manual and verify that the following settings read

CAS# Latency [4 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# to CAS# Delay [4 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# Precharge [4 DRAM Clocks]
RAS# Active Time [12DRAM clocks]

check your specs to confirm. all else should be the same
