I got offered something similar just different brand a while back when I was buying some mic’s of someone. Might try and locate someone local who has one I could try before I buy. Thanks for reminding me of these.

And by the way, tuning the sound is as simple as changing tubes. open the box, remove old tubes, replace with new ones, you have different tone. There is also 8-channel version available (I own one and use occasionally) but of course the good and bad point here is every channel is unique because every tube is unique. Then again, isn't that why you'd want "analog sound"

I would recommend the SSL Fusion which is an AMAZING INSANELY awesome 2 unit and we took one home a few weeks ago and could not give it back so we bought it right away. Yes pricey BUT check out the reviews and what James Ivy says at PTE after trying it for a few minutes! He was also completely blown away!

Even though we have a SSL4056 G+ console we use this box on everything we do everyday! Could never ever let it go and would miss that warm SSL color way too much.

Arguably the best coloring mastering unit ever under €5000

Try that with a real tape deck. A couple of years ago, a friend found tapes from a band he was in way back when. He had it baked and transferred to digital by an experienced pro(we have a few of these in Nashville) and brought it to me to remix. The first thing that slapped me in the head was how much tape hiss there was

Its easy to wax nostalgic about analog gear(and I love it as much as anyone), but the most important thing for getting a great mix is you A great song and a great performance rules the day(the mix mostly needs to not get in the way).
This 100%

I've had a few clients this year do releases on cassette tape, much to my shagrin.

I don't get it one bit at all.

I don't think anybody has actually LISTENED to the cassettes.

I hate MP3s with a passion and hope 5G kills them forever.

Anyone not born in 90's or later has unfortunately had to bear with the cassette era

True. Still better (warmer) than mp3's and youtube. I can clearly see why vinyls are reborn and cassettes are the next retro. Less ear fatigue listening to cassette even though the "hifi" of that era tend to boost the high end like crazy.

Maybe I've just grown old, but... :) just sayin' many times I have a youtube going on my ears turn backwards
