How to Sell Off My ProTools HD System

Hey everyone -

I'm making the jump to something else (entirely) and I'm selling my entire ProTools HD system. I'm curious about the best way to sell the system and how to handle certain things. Here's what I have to sell:

1. ProTools HD 2 Accel (PCI)
2. 192 I/O
3. Massive Pack 5

Selling the ProTools HD system itself should pretty straight-ahead, but how best do I handle transferring the iLok authorizations; especially if I were to sell the system on Ebay? Pace charges $25 per license to transfer from one account to another. Is there a flat fee to transfer all of them at one time? The Pace and iLok websites seem to be pretty slim on information regarding this. Selling the Massive Pack (and the iLok authorizations) might be a little tricky also.

As for selling the 192 I/O, that should be a piece of cake.

personally. i would sell the whole iLok (physically ship it) and give the buy your iLok account info. then the buyer can do as they want with the assets.

otherwise the only other way to sell off assets would be one by one or package deals. your still subject to transfer fees in that situation.

Are you going to sell all assets on your iLok?

There is 2 ways to do what you are asking.

Sell each license separately and transfer each one, which will cost $25 per license.

If you are in the scenario where you can sell all of the assets to one user, what you could do is get a new ilok, and move the assets onto the new ilok. delete the ilok from your account.

The purchaser then has a 7 day grace period from the time IT was activated. that translates to when you linked it to your account. So they need to put it on there own ilok account as quickly as possible.

As far as I know this is the cheapest way to do it.

As for the Pro Tools system itself and the stock bundled plug-ins, I think shipping the actual iLok makes the most sense. But you're right, I would have to actually give them my account details. Interesting.

Getting a new iLok altogether sounds like another good idea.

i seem to remember that it was 100.00 US funds to transfer an entire iloik to someone else . makes sense if you have more than 4 plugins on the ilok ... please check with ilok first .. not sure of the 7 day grace period but it sounds like a nice idea

I love my PT HD too! I just got it and will spend the worst three months of my life be able to pay for it! I could have got a great Mercedes instead, but I can't make music with it!

Still, I am curious what is he going to use instead of Pro Tools!
