Default Internal Mac HD

Hi guys,

I'm running PT 10 on a macbook pro 2.66 with an internal 320gb hd 5400rpm.
I also use an Mbox pro with an external hd 7200rpm.

I'd like to change the internal HD and buy a 7200 rpm one. Which model should I look for? 16mb chache?

Also, it is good to partition the internal HD?

Thank yo very much in advance!

Recording to the system drive is unsupported and not recommended either. A secondary drive is always the best solution. Also partitioning will only make things worse. As the drive heads have twice as much to do. So if want a second drive look into putting one in your optical bay. That's what I've done and love it. :)

Sure, I use the external hd for sample and recording. I just want to change my 5400rpm internal drive to a 7200 rpm one.
So make a partition of the internal one is not good?

Partitioning is def not a good idea for recording and i thought that is what you were thinking. And it really doesn't have a lot of benefits for most things. One exception being partitioning the HD for two OS's and then it's a necessity and not a performance thing. So if you are looking for performance I'd look into the Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drives. Partition only if necessary IMO.

Does your Macbook have Firewire? I'm pretty sure an external firewire drive is the best way to go.
