Default MP3 importing error

I have a Windows 10 computer with Pro Tools 2018. I can bounce to mp3, but I can't import an MP3. It says Quicktime not installed. I tried installing it, and rebooting ... still the same problem. I am current with licenses and thought that MP3 conversion and import was built in now. Help ... time sensitive project

You should be able to just drag and drop the file right into your track.

If the poster is running Pro Tools as Administrator - a Windows optimization - you can't drag and drop.

Have a look here. You may need to uninstall Pro Tools, make sure QuickTime is installed and then reinstall Pro Tools.

I can't find the knowledgebase article. Summarizing, IIRC, it said to uninstall Pro Tools, install QuickTime, test it, then install Pro Tools. There is also a security issue with QuickTime. Here's the workaround:

Hello, so it is still the case that even in Pro Tools 2019 for Windows you have to install very outdated Quicktime software just to import a MP3?
