Default USB Repeater for mbox/002

Hi there,

I hooked my mbox up to my PC with a 15 foot usb repeater cable. Unfortunately, it seems the active usb repeater is sending a digital hum and a clicking noise thru to the speakers.

Is this a cable quality issue or will all repeaters cause this undesired noise?

I'd like to move my PC into another room. Any tips on how to do this will be appreciated.....including cable brands and lenghts.

Thanks.

Just and idea.
Have you thought about moving the mbox into the same room as your computer and not using a repeater?
It seems that balanced mic and instrument cables will take more easily to added length than a usb cable.
There will be some "level" issues, depending on what mics you are using but average levels recorded at "24 bit" will be able to take a fair amount of post recording manipulation.
You didn't say how long a distance you need to go but this might be a solution.
Good luck,
Dave
There is however the "mix knob" to deal with.

I'd like to move the PC 30 feet into another room.
