Yes, and not only as a surface, but an audio interface with two mic preamps too. It's going to happen, but not sure when. At first it's going to be only as a part of S3L system.

I think I'd rather have a artist control anyway. I really think the touch screen is useful.

If Avid would now also bring up an Eucon-Ipad-App that brings up the features from MC Control´s touchscreen; I´d buy both in a minute!

I hope that top row of controls will serve as assignable soft keys with pages and sub-pages, like on Artist Control. With that the S3 will become the best small sized Pro Tools controller ever made. The more Soft Keys the better. With that we will be able to use layouts, automation snapshots, etc. They have to make it more appealing than current Mix+Control set.

It has been 8 months since Avid announced that Eucon for S3 was "coming soon". Did they give any hint on how soon? Did they say anything at NAMM? I think this is going to be a fantastic controller for Pro Tools and I actually want to have it when it becomes available.

There are 20 Soft Keys available at the bottom right of S3. If the top row 16 knobs with scribbles are assignable as Soft Keys with page switching, I would say the S3 will be better than Artist Control. But if there is only those 20, I would also stick with Artist Control.

For S3, if the top row was assignable, I would make the layout of Soft Keys like this:

1-8 and 9-16 bottom right keys are Snapshots
1-4 bottom keys are transport control
Top 16 keys/knobs are:
Touch, Latch, Read, Trim, Save Snapshot, Clear Snapshot, Rename Snapshot, Preview, Suspend Preview, Capture, Punch Preview, Punch Capture, Auto Match, Write To Selection, Next Playlist, Previous Playlist

That, with 16 faders, would make automation heaven for me.

I hate the knobs on the artist control. They are so inaccurate and inconsistent that I find them unusable for simple things like quickly setting up an eq. Plus you have to press too many things just to get to the EQ in the first place. Someone needs to come out with something with decent knobs or i'm going to have to buy a Slate raven MTi.
