Where is a Firewire 800 grounded 1U?
I own 5 pro tools systems. One thing I have been waiting for Avid to make is a 1U grounded unit (no wall wart) with a firewire 800 unit like the Motu 828... even a 1U thunderbolt option would really be impressive... I feel like Avid's dropping the ball in this area...

Re: Where is a Firewire 800 grounded 1U?
Hi Richie,
I don't think we'll see any new FW800 interfaces from any manufacturers at this point, now that apple is no longer using firewire ports. Thunderbolt, ethernet or usb3 are the most likely. The closest thing to what you're asking for is the HD Native Thunderbolt with an Omni interface, but this is still 2 boxes (the 1U Omni and a smaller box inbetween the omni and your computer). The reason there are so few fw800 interfaces is that there are a lot more fw400 computers out there, so it's a bigger market to make a fw400 interface since it will work with both fw400 and fw800 computers.
