Hey all,
I currently have PTHD 12.8.3 running on my Mac Pro. Now that 2018.x versions have been out for a couple months, I'm going to create a fresh partition to load 2018.x (probably .3) on. The main question I have is whether I should install Sierra or High Sierra as my operating system. I know that many of you are using PT 2018.x already. Which OS do you think I should install? Thanks so much for any and all feedback... John |

Hi John,
Sierra ... avoid High Sierra as long as possible .. worked horrible for me, had a lot of trouble with this release. High Sierra is pure crap at this moment .. not only for PT. Kind regards Alex |

Sierra is the safer bet. You haven't mentioned what computer model you are using but, in general, Apple's new file system introduced in High Sierra as the default only works well with SSDs. That seems to be the source of many problems for users.
If you are on a "trash can" Mac Pro or a recent iMac/laptop that is solely SSD based (m2/NVMe style drives which look like chips on a PCB with a connecting edge -- not SATA SSDs) High Sierra is an ok move.

I second that last comment.i own a trash can Mac Pro and High Sierra rocks .. I also own a MBP 2013 and also has High Sierra, if you have iCloud Drive don’t sync your documents folder if you use that for track preset locations because that caused me some issues, but that is my personal experience

Hey thanks for the input so far, everyone.
I'm running a 2012 12-core Mac Pro (cheesegrater) tower with SSD's as my important drives (System, ProTools, Sound Libraries). 48gigs of RAM. |

HS and 2018-1 to subsequently -3 running very well. I can remember a time where it's been so stable.

Still running Pro Tools on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 because it’s been so stable with the last few versions of Pro Tools that I’ve been hesitant to change anything, frankly. Take that for whatever it’s worth.
