What model computer?
What Mac OS?
When the card is installed, during what part of the boot process does the computer hang?

G-3 Desktop 266
MAC OS 8.6

The computer hangs very, very early in the boot sequence. About 3 seconds after the chime.

The screen doesn't even even time to respond.
When the card is in abd the computer is playing up, I can't even boot off a boot disc.

-Zap the PRAM of the computer. To perform this, hold down the command+option+R+P keys immediately after you boot the Mac (and hear the first chime). Continue to hold those keys down until you hear the Mac chime 3 times, release the keys and allow the computer to boot to the desktop.

-If the computer will now boot with the card installed, run DigiTest on the card.

I have zapped the PRAM, one of the first things I did.
I have also run digitest on the card and the card tests ok. I have also hooked up the 001 to my other mac computer (G-3) and it behaves in the same manner.?????

-If the card refuses to install on different computers, then the hardware (despite what DigiTest reports) is probably malfunctioning.

-Contact your local Digidesign field office and get an RA for the card.

i had a very similar problem. digi replaced card. worked for a while and then started to hang again. turned out to be a fried logic board. who knew? when i took the card out it worked fine so i figgered, hey, the 001 card. but even after replacement the thing deteriorated again. perhaps it is the card, but if the new one still hangs your computer, it's the logic board. i have a G4 350.
