Default 002rack left side 3db louder than right

Has anyone else got a 002rack where the monitor outs volume is not balanced. The left side of mine is about 3db louder than the right side. I've measured it with a sound level meter on 3 sets of monitors. It's not insurmountable since I balance it with the monitor volume trim, but a bit disapointing.

Any way to fix this?

Greg

potential factors you could look at:
faulty cable
room acoustics (particularly if you're setup is near/in a corner)
faulty amp
non-matched monitors

I had this problem once last year, turns out it was a power amp with individual left/right level controls that were out of alignment.

Yea, mine does it too, except it's the right is louder than the left, I think? I'm not at the studio right now but I never give it much thought because I don't mix in PT. I just use it for editing so when I'm thru, I dump the tracks onto a hard drive which goes in my HD Recorder so I can then mix the right way, ANALOG!!!

I bring the 002R into two channels strips of my analog console (just for control room and headphone monitoring) via their line I/P's and just trim the inputs to balance. It's not caused by any of what was suggested here, I see it on the meters in the console as well as hear it. There is probably an adjustment pot or should be somewhere in the 002R. I may check it out, I don't think it will screw with my warranty because I've already opened it up to install the P/S harness fix. If I remember correctly I think I am comming out of the main O/P on the 002R. I haven't tried any of the other O/P's to see how they balance out?

You may want to take advantage of your warranty and send it back, if it's still covered. But first I would plug it direct into something with good meters and run a test tone thru two channels of it set at unity gain, first without a master fader and then with a master fader just to make sure it's not what the others suggested, or something else.

Good luck!
David
