Default Reverb Tails Stop when track stops

I just noticed that Pro Tools is cutting off reverb tails when i hit stop. This didn't use to be the case. Does anyone know why this is? Is this a PT 8 thing?
I like to hear the tails in stop to listen to the reverb only, adjust delay time etc.
Thanks.

That is strange. All reverbs? or just one particular plugin? And is it TDM or RTAS?

Check the plugs on the master fader. Sounds like you have an expander on. Some presets will have these on.

What reverb/fx plug/s?

My rig does this with some RTAS fx, but it's not when I hit stop, it's when I hit play on my procontrol while it's already playing (i.e. there's no real "stop" command, just return to locate and play again immediately). Then I get a complete stoppage of RTAS FX and 1 second later the rest of the tail finishes. A bit annoying, but I've noticed it since day 1 of Altiverb and I just thought that was part of the deal with RTAS verb.

IHTH,

Actually it stopped. It's back to normal. A little ghost in PT8 perhaps?
It was happening with all aux fx. A TDM d-verb as well as a hardware PCM-70
(remember those?) returning to a stereo aux. There were no compressors in the chain. I would hit the space bar and it would ring out for a sec then cut off.

Did you have any level or mute automation on the FX return. When you hit stop and playback returns to the start position it may cut off rev tails as the start position automation kicks in.

Hello,

I'd like all the effects tails to stop (mute) when I stop playback. Do you know if there's an option? I've checked the manual and menu but haven't found anything concerning fx tails on stop.

I found some tails are annoying depending on the mix. Thank you.

There is no option. However, the topic’s been discussed before, along with some practical solutions. Search the DUC.

IHTH.

Thank you. I haven't found anything yet... Maybe I'm typing the wrong key words... Well, I guess this is another Pro Tools tricky thing to do! Even for simple things like that we shouldn't have to search forums!! What a waste of time...

Always silly things with this software, I have an HD rig with a C24 but most of my clients are tired of Pro Tools and use Logic, Cubase or Sonar... and this is GREAT!! We'll finally get rid of they stupid limitations and bug!
