Default External HD format readable by Mac and Win?

Heya,

My setup is as follows:
1. iMac desktop for full recording purposes with OSX 10.5.5 with MBox 2 Pro
2. Windows XP SP2 laptop for soft synth recording with MBox Micro

How do I format an external hard drive so that I can swap between the two machines? I remember a few years back that one couldn't write to the other and vice versa.

Please advise. I think my current external is Mac OS formatted journaled.

(sorry, original post was in wrong forum)

this will let you HFS+ on xp/vista: http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/ or maybe something from http://www.macwindows.com/disks2.html

I have the opposite problem - 4 or 5 external drives formatted as NTFS. 10.5 reads them just fine but can't write to them. Was thinking about purchasing http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ Has anyone used it? The MacFUSE developer has abandoned ship so I'd rather not go down that path but I could be convinced...

Protools installer for PC systems comes with free "HFS+ Disk Support option" (based on Macdrive).
You simply choose to install it with your PT installation and you can read/write HFS+ disks. No need for extra software.
