Jlima and Ramsboy had the right idea. Lots of stacks, and the other real secret, record "whisper" tracks. Which for a guy singer, or group, is mainly all of them singing their same parts in a soft falsetteo voice. Real angelic. You make tons of layers, and put it all together, and it sounds full, thick and sweet. It works the same for females, but i've found i end up using less of the soft blends, and just lots of harmonys at full voice. (excpet slow songs)

How does one get that cool lead vox double effect with actually singing the double? I love the effect, but never been able to figure out how it's done.

I have a great double-ish dry vox patch in the Eventide H3000 SE. It's not a doubler, but it sure puts the vocal in your face.

pre-delay= 7ms
rev time= .7 sec
high cut 65%
size 22%
position= all the way back (far left)
pan= center
early mix= 27%
diffusion 80%

Great, but can you put that in digi plug-in terms (d-verb/digirack) for me.

Thanks!!

I have not tried it w/a Digi plug, but you might see if the settings will transfer to a Waves Trueverb patch. I'll try it later and let you know. Sorry I was no help.
