Default Will my laptop even work with PT 8LE?

I have a Gateway P-6860FX and tried installing PT 8LE with an Mbox 2 on my laptop. I know Windows 7 isn't even supported yet but I tried anyway since some were having success getting it to run with a USB interface.

The install goes fine, but when I reboot when prompted I get a PACERegister error 3. When I try to run PT as admin I get another error that says Code -7 and a failed to initialize 0xc0000142. I am thinking that something is going wrong with the PACE part of the install. I tried updating to PT 8.0.1 and updating the PACE software but I still get the same errors. I have an InterLok folder in my C:\Program Files (x86)\InterLok but that folder was empty. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I did the install as compatible with Vista Service Pack 2 and ran PT as admin.

I would like to get this working on Windows 7 64bit but I am now wondering if my laptop will even work with PT.

I am posting a Sandra report and would like to know if my system will even work with PT if I had a supported OS.

Thanks!

SiSoftware Sandra

Default Re: Will my laptop even work with PT 8LE?

Sorry dap,,,,,,, Your drives are too slow,,, 5400 rpm and only 8 MB cache. And your 2nd drive for recording is the same with usb,,,, usb being a no go!! You need a firewire (approved) drive,, and bothe drives should be 7200 rpm, with a minimum of 16 MB cache, (32 MB cache prefered for 8.1)!!!
Good Luck,,,,,,,,,,, Mike

I understand the issue with the drives. I just want to make sure this system will even load up PT (as of now it won't even start) before investing more $ into new drives. I plan on getting 2 7200 RPM internals.

I've got exactly the same proble with my workstation. Mbox 2 pro. PT 8.0.3 works perfectly on Windows 7 x86 Ultimate... switching to Windows 7 x64 Ultimate there's no way to get protools running. P.S. my drive is a raid0 of a couple of 7200rpm drives....
