Michael Carpenter -

Have you tried disabling the Realtek audio device and any ethernet controllers in the Device Manager?

If not, I would try that - also disable any startup items using MSCONFIG.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue.

Tried all of that, to no avail.

I got to thinking after searching the DUC again. Allan Hallada said in another thread that 6045 errors were PCI buss related. The only other thing on my PCI buss (i think) is my firewire card, which has been doing some weird things lately...ie: won't let me load up more than any one firewire device at a time. So today i ran my sessions from my system drive. I was just mixing, and managed to bounce all 3 mixes with no problem. If i have no problem by the end of the week, i'll first try changing the slot of the Firewire card to see if i can get it working normally. If i can't do that, i'll pick up another Firewire card. Does that make sense?

Will keep you posted. Thanks again for your help..

Michael - Yes, getting a replacement FW card or testing it in another slot makes perfect sense and definitely could be the ulitimate cause for the 6045 errors.

brent1395 - If you're still looking for information on how to possibly change the drive to DMA mode, here are the steps:

1. In the device manager, open the tab for IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers
2. Right click on the IDE Channel (either primary or secondary) that has the device on it that is stuck in PIO mode, then select "Uninstall". You will get a pop-up asking if you're sure - click 'Yes'. It will require that you restart your computer.
3. Once your computer restarts, it should automatically reinstall the drivers and, hopefully, put your device back in DMA mode. You may need to restart your computer one more time after the device drivers are reinstalled.

Digi:

Thanks for the great thread.
Here goes my post...

The computer seems to act very strange. 80% of the time, it boots fine and PT runs fine. Every once in a while, I get the blue screen of death and then I must reboot my computer. However, upon rebooting It states that there is no hard drive available. Usually, I find if I wait some time and turn the computer on, it is fine.

Today, I got a 6088 error for the first time. I am not sure what that is about.

I have an 002 into the onboard FW port and my audio drive as an external FW drive into the PCI FW card.

Also, I ordered this computer bare bones and when I initially attempted to install two newly formatted drives, I was not able to Have a master (os) and a slave (loops, ect) on the same IDE channel. Hopefully my configuration below will help out.

If you need anymore information, please let me know.
Sincerely, Scott

Default Re: Problems with PTLE? Post your configuration here..

Just installed PTLE 6.7 and I'm having a miserable time getting things working. Even working through a basic tutorial book gives me nothing but errors. I'm hoping to get some setting recommendations. It doesn't seem like it should be this difficult. Tried to follow the installation recommendations, but after looking through DUC, I've seen all kinds of suggestions. What does Digidesign recommend? I've set up a hardware profile to turn almost everything off except the firewire card that has my USB 2.0 connection for the mbox. Lots of DAE errors. Help??

brent1395 - If you're still looking for information on how to possibly change the drive to DMA mode, here are the steps:

Thanks for getting back to me. I had tried that and about 10 other things but it didn't work. I finally figured out a solution though. I am not using a RAID congiguration with my 2 hard drives, but when I installed the RAID driver from my motherboard manufactures website, it fixed my problem and PTLE now works fine. The drivers that windows automatically installed for my hd's/ATA controllers obviously were not the right ones.
