one ? re: ICON... can it be used without a PT rig?
if I owned an ICON, and the ProTools rig was removed, it cannot work as a standalone audio mixer, correct?
It is merely a (very good) control surface for ProTools, correct? or am i wrong? thanks |

If the Pro Tools rig was removed It would not be an ICON but a DControl or a D command .
Same thing on a Axiom or C200 if you remove the remote racks and the computer that commands them you're left with something that looks like a SSL console but which is just the remote for the racks . No sound passes through it . On the Euphonix you have to start a computer before you can use the "console" . Still when I was mixing on a digital desk nobody told me I was using a controller . It seem hard to grasp for a lot of people . Volodia |
