Default Missing dsi.Dll file?

Hi folks,
I am using PT 5.1.1 on a Windows 98 system. 1 Gig hard drive, 256 ram. I recently had to have the HD formatted due to a virus. I reloaded the PT from the disc. All seemed to go ok until i tried to open the program. It immediately gives me an error message saying that a dsi.dll file is missing. After looking at similar problems on the board here, i tried to reload the software but still the error retutrns. I put in a new sound card in due the old one going south when it got formatted. I am pretty ignorant so any help would be really appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

Rob

AnswerBase

Reinstall WaveDriver -- you can't have both the WaveDriver and ASIO drivers installed.. and you can't use the 6.1.1 versions.

i apologize if my question is dumb. i am not computer savy and just want my system to run again.
" you can't have both the WaveDriver and ASIO drivers installed." What does this mean? Do I need to delete an ASIO file? What is ASIO? I looked under the answer base for reinstalling the wave driver, but there is no mention of windows 98. Only xp. Is there a resource for learning more about this system and the myriad of acronyms? How can one educate oneself on these subjects?
