OSX Yosemite+PT10/11
Since it's only been available as of 10/16/2014... I wonder how long will it be until we see support for PT using the new and FREE OSX Yosemite for mac. Has anyone jumped the gun and upgraded their systems already and has used pro tools on it?

Re: OSX Yosemite+PT10/11
I jumped the gun and didn't even think about it. I had to reinstall the drivers for my Saffire 40. Pro Tools, though it works, is a little buggy. Any pop up window (for plug-ins, I/Os, busses, etc.) are blank and you have to kind of memorize where they sit in the list. Sometimes if you mouse over them they show the names but not always. I'm still able to use it for recording, but its a little bit harder to get everything set up as far as finding the right plug-ins and I/Os you want.

Re: OSX Yosemite+PT10/11
Alright Guys I figured how to install Pro Tools 11 and Pro tools Express and actually get it working
1. Download Pacifist for mac 2. Load Pro tools 11/ Express pkg on Pacifist 3. Extract the Pro Tools Files to a Specified folder on Desktop and Copy the Files extracted to their respective system folders and makesure you download the new ilok manager for it to work properly thats it.... |

BlaqueSoul? Can you tell me some more details about the thirth step?
I've installed and extracted Pro Tools Express. But I don't know what to do after. I've tried a few things. But non of them works. Thanks! |

Quote:
When you launch Pro Tools Express installer it checks the OSX version, you just need to change the version before you launch it. Once it's launched(before it starts the install) change it back. I used 10.9.1. Worked fine for installing on Yosemite 10.10.1 Edit: Just to add some instructions in case some don't know how to do this: goto /System/Library/CoreServices The file you need to edit is SystemVersion.plist. Change the follow: <key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key> <string>10.10.1</string> <key>ProductVersion</key> <string>10.10.1</string> To: <key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key> <string>10.9.1</string> <key>ProductVersion</key> <string>10.9.1</string> Launch installer. Change values back to normal. Continue with install and enjoy. It should also work on other software that uses OS version checking. Hope this helps. |

Re: OSX Yosemite+PT10/11
Just tried to do this but its locked and you only have an option to make a duplicate which can be edited (which I assume is no good)......?

Re: OSX Yosemite+PT10/11
Thanks, came across these instructions and was able to get everything working after editing the .plist.
For anyone who has trouble editing the .plist using Xcode, due to 'file being locked' warning, what I did to work around this was use a command-line editor in the terminal. I find pico really easy to use. You have to chmod the file permissions first, then type 'pico SystemVersion.plist' and that will open the file. Make the edit, then cmd + x to exit, press 'y' to save at the prompt. Just don't forget to chmod the permissions back after you install. |
