Default The Irony Of PT Video Engine Crash

Seriously, HOW is it possible that software developed by freaking *AVID* has a video engine that continuously crashes!?

When I upgraded my PC (32 gigs of ram!) I assumed I'd see less of this issue, but nah.

Seriously embarrassing, though fwiw my girlfriend who's an editor is always pulling her hair out over media composer crashes, so I guess it's no surprise.

But really. Even Ableton's video engine is more stable. Hell-- Ableton let's me pull in audio files of different sample rates and automatically up/down samples them.

I look forward to the day when PT is no longer expected in "professional" environments by non-sound people.

Since you are using v12.x, have you opened a support case with Avid?

While it is unfortunate that you feel the way you do, you have not provided any information in order to help determine what may have caused the video engine to crash and why. Avid cannot help you if you cannot help Avid by complaining (read - reporting) these crashes that you are experiencing.

I see people have been reporting it since 12 shipped, my complaint is not going to suddenly fix the issue.

Not being able to get the video engine to work means you have issues elsewhere. The reason I say this? I have never had video engine problems nor crashes on my system and have run all the 64bit versions of PT from 11 to the current 12.5.2.

Do you have video card installed, which one? Think internal video could be the issue?
