MIDI Studio won't open

Just upgraded to PT11 (not HD) and I can't get my MIDI Controller to be recognized. When I try to launch the MIDI Studio it takes a wicked long long time before finally coming up with the following error message "Audio MIDI Setup couldn't open the MIDI server so you can't view or edit your MIDI configurations ..."

Anyone else having MIDI issues with PT11? Any help would be welcome! Thanks!

This is from another thread from a while back, but may be related to your issue:

I think the PT MIDI drivers are conflicting with other installed MIDI drivers. I can duplicate this with Logic also. If you open the Console while this is happening I bet you'll see the MIDIserver crashing and relaunching in an error state. This manifested on my system by not allowing me to run AMS with the PT MIDI drivers installed - it would just hang.

My workaround was to remove the Digi MIDI drivers from /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers. In my case DigidesignFireWireMIDI.plugin and DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin (you would have this last one plus something MBox 2 specific). If you are using the MIDI ports on your Avid device this will disable them, but if not, no harm no foul.

As for other MIDI drivers, I have AlphaTrack, Line6 and MOTU devices installed. One of those may also be the source of the conflict, but I need all of those and do not use the Avid 003R MIDI ports. They all appear to play well together.

Mac or PC? If Mac have you setup your keyboard in OSX audio/MIDI setup? And do you have any necessary drivers for your keyboard installed? USB or 5 pin din MIDI connection and is your keyboard set for the protocol you are using?

I think I would try trashing my prefs before deleting drivers.

I just remembered there is a conflict with MIDI drivers from some NI products - caused all kinds of havoc with my 11 Rack.
