Cross-grade hardware question!!!

and it's always been with LE that you bought the hardware, and software was included for free. if you sell the hardware, you are supposed to include the software for it.

I guess the simplest way to put it is that the hardware (002/003/Mbox/etc) is more like a giant ilok/dongle.

Um, no it's not. Pro Tools LE doesn't come with an ilok unless you buy the factory bundle, because your software uses the hardware as a dongle.

It's different for the M Powered users, as their software comes with a licence on ilok.

y'all were right with the ilok
though all my software is still licensed to me on the avid site

i know plenty of folks who ditched their underperforming hardware or bought it used with the software (most retail places i.e. guitar center, daddy's are pretty inept with re-licensing stuff)

oh yes i can still buy the software for 600, just think it frankly sucks

might just have to buy a piece o crap mbox mini or something than upgrade from there - just a waste of time and money
