Maybe they're trying to reduce their traffic.
Sometimes there are a lot of useless posts in between those very excellent ones.
They may be trying to crack down on posts like "I told you" and "*$&#@!^*" and the typical "+1" and "damn it" stuff like that.
I don't know, I'm only saying that because I don't see much spam here at all.

The news last week that brought to light "certain events" certainly had the potential to swamp the music forums. This may have been simply a protection to prevent a potential firestorm of posts that serve neither Avid nor its customers. In any event, it’s in the past.
