Default Best settings for 'smooth' continuous scrolling

I've just upgraded from OSX 10.7.5/PTHDn 10.3.3 to OSX 10.11.2/PTHDn 12.4 and I'm finding the timeline 'continuous scrolling' visually quite jerky. TBH it was never great before the upgrade but it seems worse now. It doesn't appear to be related to video file formats etc, it's just as bad with the video track offline.

Can anyone recommend optimum settings that might improve this?

Thanks in advance.

Oh dear God, no don't upgrade to El Capitan.

Lots of discussion already on DUC about graphics and other issues with El Capitan.

"Optimum settings" for me would be a clean Mountain Lion or Yosemite install, whatever is best compatible with your other plugins and software. And even then you may be into tweaking a well known performance issue in OS X graphics with Quartz Debug (Google that term)... which you can no longer work around/tweek in El Capitan.

I love continuous scroll, and a new Mac Pro made it better, but it's still not coded to be smooth. Closing open plug-in windows is the only thing that I've noticed helps. For the record, it's pretty good on the Mac Pro 6,1.

Bumping this 'cause we're upgrading multiple rooms from Cheesegrater/Blackmagic/PT11/D-commands to Trashcan/AJA/PT12/M40's, and the two we've done so far both suffer from this. Continuous scrolling was acceptable before, now it's terribly choppy. In the few threads I've found, I haven't seen anyone report back with specific solutions, so thought I'd ask just in case there are any...?

Find "Quartz Simple" or "Quartz Debug"and download it and follow instructions.

El Capitan has major graphics issues. I just jumped to Sierra on my personal rig and it's running very smooth in the graphics department. At work we are still on Yosemite 10.10.5

Bringing this thread back from the past, because PT2018 and Sierra or High Sierra finally have smooth continuous scrolling with lots of plug-in windows open. Makes mixing easier (especially for those of use without fancy S6-style descending waveform readouts).
