Default Pro tools 11 won't start after updating to Windows 10

I updated window from 7 to 10 and now it won't start. It crashes before starting. I uninstalled several times but nothing helped. Any suggestions guys?

Hello yorgo,

Windows 10 was first qualified with Pro Tools 12.5. See avid.force.com/pkb/articles/Compatibility/Pro-Tools-Operating-System-Compatibility-Chart for more info.

If you have a backup (or your Windows 7 installer) you can roll your OS back, or you can upgrade Pro Tools. See shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductDetails?sku=DYNA20008 for details.

Best regards,
JC

Your other option is to update to a supported PT version. IOW, jump to PT 2019.

If it’s not supported, it might be difficult to get it to run. You won’t get support from AVID, so you’ll be on your own.

Win7

If you need to install or reinstall Windows 7, you can use this page to download a disc image (ISO file) to create your own installation media using either a USB flash drive or a DVD:

So I was going to move the plugins that are located in the plugins folder to the unused folder.......THERE are no plugin in the folder at all. I can't find them anywhere? Isn't that strange or is it because this would techanically be the first time I'm starting PT in in windows 10?
Thanks

You seem to have overlooked the fact your version of Pro Tools is unsupported on your OS version.

No I haven't overlooked it. I know that it is not officially supported but it does work on my laptop which is Windows 10 and also a slew of people have no problem with it on Windows 10 as well

AAX Plug-Ins location in Windows 10:

Copy the next line and paste it in the “Type here to search” window next to the Win10 Start button:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins

If your Plug-Ins aren’t there, reinstall Pro Tools.

If that doesn’t work – and you want to keep Pro Tools 11 – you could reinstall Win7, install Pro Tools 11, then use the free upgrade from Win7 to Win 10, without losing your Files and Programs, using the
MediaCreationTool1909

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/soft...load/windows10

Scroll down to:
Using the tool to upgrade this PC to Windows 10

Should work – (did for me, first-go, straight from Win7 to Win10).
You’ve a choice of staying on Win7 with PT 11 or upgrading to Win10 with PT 2019 – if you meet all the system requirements.

There’s a free trial of Pro Tools | Ultimate if you want to check out Pro Tools 2019

Fair enough.

I thought perhaps that was your issue, but if you can get it to run, more power to you.

Fingers crossed.
