G5 dual 1.8 still vialble for PT?
is g5 1.8 dual still viable for PT 7.4?
I've got an opportunity to pick one up new in box pretty cheap... that or a 2.0 |

I have a dual 1.8. It is working very well indeed. 7.4 takes a while to load up but it seems very stable compared to 6.X.
With TDM the computer is not doing a whole lot of work. I haven't delved into Elastic Audio yet, which might be CPU intensive. I do however use lots of Altiverbs. I reckon the CPU could run 10 of these if required. I am sure you know this but just in case, these G5's use the old PCI standard which is obsolete. Go for it if you have a PCI TDM system already.
