Default Advice Needed: Have PT9/10 Lic but lost Ilok

Hi,

I'm getting back into using PT's and although I have
the PT9/10 License in the iLok manager I lost the
physical ilok.

Should I report it to ilok, get a new ilok and just use
PT10?

The other issue is I have Catalina. I don't think PT10
is compatible with Catalina or if it ever will be.

You can report the iLok lost and start a case to replace the license.

PT 10.3.10 is only qualified up through Mac OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) and is not compatible with Catalina. After replacing your Pro Tools 10 license you could use that to upgrade to the current version - check this KB for important upgrade info.

If the license was deposited on the iLok you *have* lost the actual
License. It’s an encrypted digital asset on that iLok.

If you most recently operated Pro Tools with the physical iLok and did not move the license then the license is on that iLok.

If you had moved the license back to your iLok account (and not on the iLok) then you can just buy another blank iLok and transfer the license to that. You need to be very clear which of these you have.

If you have lost the license on the iLok...

There are clear directions on iLok.com and Avid.com websites for dealing with a lost iLok license. You should also look at ILok ZDT and cloud licensing options for future use.

^^ Pro Tools 9 is fine for an upgrade to current perpetual versions.

But overall given Avid is pushing ahead on subscription licensing you should look at those options as well.
