Default Emulate complete guitar signal path: Comp -> Amp -> Reverb

Hi.

I had started down this path in the (now read-only) Eleven demo thread and am looking for ideas...

Essentially, I really like the Eleven guitar amp emulation and am trying to find the 'best' way to emulate the complete signal flow that's used when I play through a 'real' amp.

Typically, I'm using a setup that I think is pretty common:

1. Guitar into compressor (ex. Orange Squeezer or MXR Dyna Comp)
2. into amp
3. and using the amp's spring reverb

So, I'm wondering what plug-ins other folks are using to emulate this kind of signal path. That is, what plug-ins (and feel free to contribute what settings you use for these) do you use for this kind of compression and amp spring reverb?

And, I'm wondering if it would be better to record my guitar signal (into my 002 Rack) using my existing compressor stomp boxes rather than recording a purely dry signal and processing it with a compressor plug-in.

Ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

I find using my boss CS2 right after the guitar (as in live set-up) works good, as I want to compress the analog signal before it hits the A/D convertors. You could recreate this by inserting a compressor and then eleven on a Aux Input track and then bus it to an audio track to record, but I prefer analog compression.

I pretty much do the same thing, into an outboard pre (RNP/RNC) compressed prior to hitting the interface. Sometimes I use FX out of a tonelab LE with the amp modeling bypassed, that's if I want a wah or some chorus or whatever (not reverb though) again prior to the interface and then in both cases to an aux track with eleven inserted.

Thanks to both of you for the insight on keeping the analog compressor in the loop before hitting the A/D convertors on my 002 Rack.

So.. onto the spring reverb sound. Last I checked (the demo version anyway), the Eleven modeling doesn't include the reverb features (even of the Deluxe/Twin Reverb modeled amps). So, do you have a particular favorite plug-in for getting an amp's spring reverb sounds?

I have the 'Factory' set of plug-ins and, so far, I haven't found a plate/room setting in any of them that sounds like an amp's spring reverb. Do you have any favorite plug-in/settings to get an amp reverb sound?

Haven't found a real good spring 'verb plug either....I run a TC Electronics M300 as a hardware insert via s/pdif to get a good spring reverb sound.

McDSP Revolver has some very nice spring patches.

Revovler does have some nice patches, but the Project Studio bundle of plug-ins is too stripped-down for that kind of money (IMHO) I used them on the trial basis, and was pretty disappointed to see the analog channel stripped back to just a tape sim.

Don't forget about Softubes feedback plug-in for the complete chain. Felt like Hendrix when I tried it
