Pro Tools Software upgrade

I'm currently running ProTools 7.4 I purchased with my MBOX2 and run with my DIGI 002 Rack. When I purchased the MBOX2 I believe I was eligible for a free upgrade to PT8 when it came out. I didn't upgrade because 7.4 did everything I needed it to do. Now I realize that I do in fact need to upgrade due to new OS and computer hardware compatabilites. Although, I can't really afford the hundreds of dollars to upgrade to the newest version.

Does anyone know what upgrade I would be eligible for from 7.4 for free and how I go about doing it?

The only free upgrade you might still be eligible for is PT8.

If you bought it and 7.4 was in the box, but you bought it after PT8 came out, then you would have been eligible.

When you registered your 7.4 software activation code, you should have been sent an automatic email at that time with instructions on how to get your PT8.

I don't know if you saved any of that documentation.


You may want to contact Avid registration/activation support, which is free. Maybe they can help you.

Other than that, there is no other free upgrade you would be eligible for. The upgrade from any version of LE to PT10 is $399, and is obtained by having your serial number of your LE hardware (either the Mbox 2 or 002).

I would like to know if it's possible to upgrade M-Powered Essential 8 to Pro Tools 10, i've seen there's a price 399 to upgrade. But would it'll work?

I don't think there is any crossgrade from Essential. There wasn't even a crossgrade from Essential to regular M-Powered.
