Default S6L 96k recording question

Hey, first time attempting to record a live show on an S6L with my computer, I have only done it in 48k on an S3L to date. Any thoughts on whether I can record 32 tracks in 96k on the following hardware:

Macbook Pro
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Mid 2012

Laptop works fine in 48k, though when I run the Console app for my Apollo the graphics tends to get a bit slow so I just let the screen go dark, or I quit Console and unplug the Lightning Bolt once my show is in progress. In 9 months I have had no crashes or other weirdness otherwise. Set length is about 60 minutes if that helps.

Anyway, if you have any experience on recording 96k I would appreciate it.

thx

Default S6L 96k recording question

You should be fine. It all comes down to your harddrives write speed. SSD or Flash storage is plenty fast to handle many many 96KHz tracks. Don't record on your systemdrive but an dedicated external drive.

OK, I can buy an external drive, but since there aren't really any FW800 drives around anymore the connection will be USB 3.0, is this fast enough transfer rates?

USB 3 is fine. You should not run into trouble. Should you run into any trouble, you can use the disk allocation feature of pro tools to spread the load out on more drives. Easy! :)
