With the disk cache feature that's more of an artificial limitation once again.

But it's worth a try for any PR aimed at more gullable folks, one might think.

I have the feeling that Avid has to do some homework. If they want to keep this crazy, non sense, $1000 upgrade costs they should:

1) correct the "audio dropaudio bug" fast! Make it right. And apologize.

2) beta test protools 11 a lot!!! and release it right. With no "big" bugs. Of course small bugs exists in any kind of software but bugs like this are non acceptable for this upgrade costs.

3) put in mind that when PT11 comes out a LOT of pt hd users like me will watch to decide if we will stay on this ship and buy HDX / PT 11 or...

I think it's time for avid to hire some professional beta team!

They'll drop it again I think. Probably trying to push everyone to a new system. They had better fix the audio drop-outs and the inability to get sample accurate send/returns with delay comp off.

I had the drop out happen in Friday for the first time.

Besides the fact that there are very few hdx plugins available at this time.

Very, as it was stated before, MC launches the plugins outside of it's software so they can be run, else they wouldn't work. Much like a 32 bit server of some sort. Dave Tramblay had explained it before in the programers thread. Also, one thing to remember, is that once PT 11 is out, there should be no more new rtas plugins, or very little over the next two or three years at least, until all the companies stop making them. Will MC go AAX? maybe, but if it does, you'll be stuck with having to change your entire plugins anyways by that time.

PT 11 is a complete rewriting of the code, so that the program is 64 bit, we can take example of logic that is a half-breed between 32 bit and 64 bit, part of it only working n 32 bit and all the problems that comes with that. From what I've read, it's been going for over a year now (the rewriting of the program) so it should be a new base-code, with fewer bugs. Well there will always be bugs anyways, because you can't take them all out even if you wanted to. Unless you sold a dedicated machine built only to work with pro tools, and that would be going backward instead of forward with being open to third parties hardware, software, and mac and pc's.
