Our In-house Tech guy installed the Power supply himself. We purchased a third-party power supply from a electronic supply house. (identical to the original power supply in the the Main Unit). Believe we paid less than $100.

Even today, Several Months after we changed the Power supply, Procontrol has been powered on and Not was showed any sign of freaking out.

Change Your Power Supply!

It's your power supply.... Instead of trying to find a new one, all I did was replace the capacitors on the original power supply and all is well. These caps tend to leak after a few years. It's a simple fix that if you do yourself...may cost you $25.

I just replaced the caps on the power supply. Took about 15 minutes... It took longer to get the supply out of the pro control. Just take your time and use the same rated caps.

Sign me up for the Schizo Pro-Control Support group too.

I'm running an HD3 system that's not even 2 years old and I'm having the same problem. I'll give the fixes suggested here a try. I'm mainly just chiming in because no matter how friendly or prompt the customer service is, it is sort of weak that a system that's conveniently just out of warranty suddenly has a power supply issue (anyone else getting a sense of iPod deja-vu?), ESPECIALLY when this message board has posts about this problem dating back to '03.

Having similar problems.
The displays look OK, but the faders in my main unit all fly to the top and stay there.
I'm suspecting the PS as well. Has anyone had the fader symptoms lead to something else besides the PS?

Agus,
Do you have a listing of the cap values? The unit is actually working intermittantly, so I'd prefer to only open it up once! Also any tips/instructions you may be able to offer would be appreciated.

Thanx all; very useful thread!

Hi,

I know this is an old thread but if anyone knows what after market power supply was used or what value and number of caps were used to fix the power supply I would love to know. My ProControl is is now intermittitantly freaking out for the second time, and i do not want to pay for an advance replace, or the shipping to Digi.

I was suffering from this same problem, and had it fixed by an excellent tech by the name of Greg Granieri (most recently Chief Tech at O'Henry Studios). He has a great deal of expertise with Digidesign products. He can be contacted by phone at (818)-425-1053 or email to [email protected]
