Tried the following:

Run as... Administrator
Changed DAE Playback buffer Size and Disk Size
Turned off DEP for Pro Tools.

No dice.

did you disable your network card to see if that made any difference?? IRQ's look good to me. if you click on the device and go to the resource tab it will show any conflicts. but nothin' jumped out at me

on second look...network card and video card on same IRQ would make me investigate. again, look at resource tab for both devices

Have you tried running your video card as standard VGA microsoft driver?
this could eliminate the video card (shred in both builds) as the possible cause for this.

In my "Pro Tools" hardware profile, the network card is disabled.

Not yet. My next attempt will be to down-grade to 7.4 (or even 7.0/7.1) to see if this is an issue related to 8.0.
