Re: can you record in at half speed
Why would you need to do this?
And you can't do this anyway! Mike |

Re: can you record in at half speed
Hi, it's possible with elastic audio (in version 7.4), I've been toying with this recently. Make all audio tracks tick based and select polyphonic, then change to slower tempo and record, then return to original tempo. However quality depends on how much speed has changed. Select X-Form and render for better quality...

Re: can you record in at half speed
Of course you can do it !!!!
especially for giddy speed guitar solo or hard part. But remember you have to change the tune (can't remember how much down). Cause at normal speed the tune is gonna be lifted up. You can also use Elastic processing (then you don't need to detune). If it's in a full mix it's okay but in a few tracks parts or one instrument part like a piano solo...you can hear the processing artifacts, so it's better then to practice and have the most natural sound at session speed.Even if you manually move some notes manually there after (classical editing)with crossfades...You're in digital world so you can do as many takes as you want, even paste some different parts from some differents takes (montage). It's not cheating it's just studio work. Hope it helps. |

Re: can you record in at half speed
something you could try thats worked for me (no elastic audio or retune):
say you have a bass part and a drum part, both 4 bars, and you want to record guitar. use TCE to stretch the bass and drums to double the length (ie make 4 bars 8 bars) practice the part a few times then record TCE bass drums and guitar in half (8 bars to 4) doesnt always sound perfect, but might work.

Re: can you record in at half speed
Really??? I thought I would see solid answers here. Hold down shift when you press your record button(s), command + spacebar, F12 or 3 on the numeric keypad, play 1 octave lower than regular.

Re: can you record in at half speed
On mac I found I had to first hold down shift - command, while holding click the record button in the transport to arm it, continue holding down shift - command and then hold the space bar as well.
Technically the shortcut is Command - Shift - Space Bar but it only works for me if I do what I described above |
