Default Notebooks....Which one ?

hello all!, i want to know which notebook will be useful for sound recording and sound editing using Pt 9 and a USB external sound card. I´m between dell, hp and lenovo with Intel 5 processor or AMD phenom II tricore ones with 500gb HD and 4 Gb Ram minimun. Top sale $1200 dolars.

Someone can make a top 5 and help me decide?.

Default Re: Notebooks....Which one ?

Hello,
There are compatibility specs on Avids website for certified systems. We found
that my girlfriends Dell Inspiron with 2 gig memory and Duo Core works for small sessions with a Fast Track Ultra interface. We have only tested it with 2 analogue and 2 midi tracks but it records those no problem while playing 3 to 4 backing tracks back at the same time. Amazingly it has no clicks, no pops or hangups even without disabling drivers. My Dell Studio 17
has 4 gig, a faster HD and faster CPU and has clicks and pops even with all extraneous drivers turned off. Go figure. With every thing turned off as per the troubleshooting spec here it works well for the small sessions we have tested so far. Guitar, Base, Mic and Line in from a Yamaha E Drum set. So far have run with 2 Sans Amp plugins, EQ and Compressor simultaneously. Read the FAQ's and Trouble Shooting posts. Use the DPC latency checker. Good Luck.
