Default Desperate for help!

Hello,

I have just recently received my second MBox Pro. I sent the first back as I believed I had a hardware problem, however my new Mbox is just the same.

When I switch on the Mbox Pro without it being connected to my MacBook Pro all the LEDs work fine, yet as soon as I boot up or launch Pro Tools, I lose the speaker switch LED, mono led and multi led. The phantom power and dim/mute leds work fine.

I can record as normal, however there is obviously a problem somewhere.

I am running Pro Tools 9 on a 13 inch MacBook Pro with 4Gb ram. As my laptop only has a firewire 800 port I have had to use the adaptor supplied with my bundle.

I am desperate to get this sorted out as this is my second MBox Pro within two weeks and I'm still at square one.

Please, if ANYONE knows how to help or any suggestions can you let me know? Do I need to purchase an AVID support code etc.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Jamie

Not really sure what the problem is... Just the LEDs go out? Do the actual functions still work, or just the LED lights that stop workiing?

Are you turning on the MBox while the computer is on, or before? VERY IMPORTANT! Don't power your computer until the MBox is powered!

What OS version? What exact PT version? Have you loaded the hardware drivers and selected them?

Hi,

Wow! Thats a few questions...thanks very much!

The swtiches actually don't work. The phantom power does and its led works as does the dim/mute, however the speaker and mono switches don't work. They do when the mbox is not connected to the computer though.

The OS version is Snow Leopard 10.6.7
Pro Tools 9.0.3

I loaded the drivers that came with my pro tools bundle and up-dates from the AVID website.

I just tried again, I powered the MBox and all LEDs worked fine. I then powered my MacBook Pro and when the log in screen appeared the blue power light on the Mbox began flashing. Once the computer had booted the power light stopped flashing and I lost power to the speaker, mono and multi buttons and functions as well.

In pro tools I can select the Mbox in the playback engine and hardware menus.

I hope this is clear, I apologise for any confusion and thanks again for your help, it is most appreciated.

Jamie

I would try reinstalling the drivers, then reinstalling Pro Tools.

Thanks Dism,

I have already tried that. This is the second Mbox Pro.. as I saidm the first was sent back because I though it was faulty however my new one is the same.

I installed pro tools first then the drivers as per AVIDs website.

Cheers,

Jamie

Just pitching in here, cause I don't have a mbox 2. But could it be the port of your laptop that is having problems?

Yes, perhaps you should try using Mbox with another computer so you can definitely eliminate one or the other as the cause of your problem.
