One other thing, I'm running old school LE 6.2.2 Pro Tools. I'm sure that isn't helping anything as it probably won't work with Leopard from what I have read on the net. Still holding out some slim hope that it's possible without spending more money.

There's your problem, dude! You need at least PT LE 7.4.2 if you want to use your Mbox with Leopard (10.5.x). Sorry!

Ok, that's fine. I don't mind upgrading pro tools. But if I get the latest version (8.0 or whatever), will my original MBox work then? I don't think it will. I feel like I saw somewhere in the avid (awful) website that the old mbox won't work with the latest pro tools version. Maybe I made that up. I've been reading so much stuff I can't even remember at this point.

But if someone is using their old MBox with a new version of Pro Tools on Leopard 10.5.x .... and it actually works??!!!! Please!! Let me know. Thanks again.

The original Mbox works great with Leopard 10.5.x and PT LE 8 (up to 8.0.1). It's only 8.0.3 and beyond, as well as Snow Leopard that is not supported.

If I were in a position to need to pay for an upgrade to PT LE 8 I would probably buy an Mbox mini which would then allow you to stay in the game a bit longer, move to Snow Leopard, etc.

Hey that's great news. Thanks for the tip. I really just want to get my old stuff mixed from Pro Tools, and then it burn it to cd, so I have it. Then I think I may be done with Pro Tools and just stick to recording to tape. I really just need Pro Tools to open so that I can use it to mix down some old stuff. But, I do wonder if I will regret not having pro tools available to me in the future, if I need it for some unforeseen reason. But thx for the kind responses. They are very much appreciated! :)

I guess my big question is figuring out how to spend the least amount of money to accomplish getting my old material out of Pro Tools and onto a cd. If that means just buying PT LE 8 software (ex. 8.0.1) then that is probably what I'll do. Maybe I could find it for cheap on Ebay. But I don't think I want to invest in a new mini MBox since I don't think I'm going to be with ProTools for the long haul, since I enjoy recording to tape.

Would this work for me? It is LE 7.4 I think, for $40 on Ebay. Looks like the cheapest option for me to do what I want to do.

That would do it. Just make sure it comes with a serial number! The disk itself without a serial number won't do you much good. Might want to write the seller just to be 100% sure.

Great. Thanks stiefelmusik. I think that is probably what I will do. And yeah, I'll make sure it has a serial # with it. Although I think it will be fine after looking at the seller's feedback. Looks pretty legit. Thanks for all your help. I hope I have a happy ending.

Getting off topic there rhender.. but glad you got it sorted.

There has got to be a software programmer/developer out there who can tweak the drivers for the Mbox so it works with the new PT update and Leopard.

Please come to our rescue, I (and I'm sure many others) will happily donate cash.
