Shift Click on timeline open manyyy plug in windows
Hi everyone, I have an issue with plug in windows that I don't think has been adressed here :
My preferences are : ‘open plug in when editing’ on Plug-in, pan and sends, ‘attention most recently clicked daw area’ from track name, edit window, fader, plug in, pan controls, sends ‘open windows on workstation when knobs assigned’ : 1st expand knob module ‘1st expand knob module’ Primary function : EQ When I click on a track or on the timeline in the edit window while pressing Shift (selection of multiple tracks for example), a window of the plug in that is supposed to be recalled (primary function : EQ) opens. It behaves the same way as clicking+shift on a plug-in : it opens the plug-in untargeted at the upper left corner of the screen. It is very annoying since you have to manually close it with the mouse and sometimes it even opens much more than one window if you selected multiple tracks !! Could you please help? S6 M40 WS 2020.5 PT2020.5 OSX10.15.3 Thank you! Last edited by diane_son; 06-08-2020 at 09:11 AM. Reason: gear explained |

A very old request …
It's been here since we bought our first S6 in 2017. Thanks for asking Diane. |

Re: Shift Click on timeline open manyyy plug in windows
Greetings,
My initial recommendation, without digging in further, would be to disable Open Windows on Workstation Attention, which can be found under Settings>User>Workstation. With this enabled (especially since you have Edit Window enabled as a trigger) clicking around is going to constantly trigger windowing interactions vs implicitly clicking on a Send, Plug-In, Pan, etc. Jeff |

well I understand that what's causing the bug but I love this function and it works fine, it just creates an annoying bug. I would love to use it without any problem... |

Re: Shift Click on timeline open manyyy plug in windows
So just to be clear, your use case is such that you are either clicking on the edit timeline or using the p ; nudge track shortcuts and want a window to always pop-up on attention vs explicitly clicking on a pan, send or plug-in in Pro Tools?

Re: Shift Click on timeline open manyyy plug in windows
Hi Jeff,
Yes exactly, we switch a lot from the S6 and the keyboard and would like to easily edit the timeline and the plug in automation without opening manually an insert. we only use the open plug-in window (no sends or pan). we love that the window always pop up on attention from the surface or the keyboard, the only little thing is that every time we hit shift, it opens plug in windows that are annoying to close and it opens often during the day! |

I have to agree and have a similar workflow. The bug is a PITA. I’ve found that if you slow down the Shift + Selection it doesn’t occur as often. |
