Just a tip for a few of you having trouble with drivers and plug ins, dont forget Windows 7 has Compatibility mode. Just right click and choose the version of Windows in which your software or drivers worked, and you should be running. Another tip is to Always launch PT in Run As Admin. If you were on Vista you would have picked this tip up. Right click the PT icon, Run As Admin. Or Right click. Shortcut Tab. Advanced. Check Run as Admin. Apply. Now it will default to Run as Admin when launched. R.A.A. is important im Vista and 7 for many programs. Im still waiting on the 64 bit LE drivers......
Yes,now it's a pleasure to work on Win7 64 and 8.01 runnig smoothly on my system.I also run it from "run as admin" state, but since I've swapped my video card from NVidia to ATI it's no problem anyway... real joy

I'm not sure this will help the HD users but thought I would pass along this info.

I got the latest versions of Analog Channel TDM (when I bought it there were no LE versions) and the RTAS version of Compressor Bank LE to install on an M-Powered setup I have (Win 7 64 bit, PTMP 8.0.1, M-Audio 1814). Installing these two plugs was not smooth and appeared to fail at first. I got error messages mid install and near the end of the install but just kept clicking on choices that forced the install. In the end, a message said that the install of these plugs failed - but it did not. They work just fine with PTMP. So if you get these error messages during the install, just keep forcing the install and don't accept the option to abort the install of the McDSP plugs. It might work for you.

There is no doubt that McDSP has some work to do.

I have the latest PACE drivers (both 64 and 32 bit drivers installed). The only other item of note is that I have the M-Audio 64 bit beta drivers installed so the firewire works.

(I still haven't tried this with my LE rig (Digi002r) as Digi has yet to release a PT update with 64 bit firewire drivers.)

Hope this helps,
Greg

I don't think you get a choice of Vista or XP, just Windows or Mac with McDSP plug-ins. However, if you do get a choice (for any plug-in for use with Win 7) I would choose a Vista installer.

FWIW, I'm guessing that things will go fine for you. You will likely just have to close the installer manually (using task manager) at the end of the install.

Hope this helps,
Greg

What does this mean? I just downloaded the latest ilok driver and installed it, but surely you can only have one hardware driver installed for a particular ilok? Can I make Windows 7 64-bit install a 32-bit driver? Might help with Cranesong I guess which some people seem to have working...

lennieh,

No, only the 64 bit driver is installed on WIn 7 x64. It is strange though as it installed in the Program Files(x86) folder (which is usually where all of the 32 bit apps install). The 64 bit apps/drivers have been showing up in the Program Files folder.

I do have the 32 bit version of the PACE drivers installed on another drive. I guess I was just saying that both versions of the latest PACE drivers are solid.

Greg

Sorry my thoughts were only about the installation of pro tools HD 8.0.1 or earlier cs with 8.0.
I have a clear choice to download a xp or vista version 32 bit.

Which one did you guys use for an install on win7 x64?

Best
Olek

after running PT8 / HD3 pcix Accel on an i7 box with XP for a few months, I just fresh-installed win7 and can report no big problems yet...all the time using the Supermicro X8SAX (the only i7 board out at the time w/ 3 pcix card-compatible slots).

the day job/family interferes w/ heavy testing, but yes THE MEMORY PROBS ARE GONE...loading lots of Omnispheres and Ivory w/out getting error messages...all while playing back about 40-ish tracks...

wonder if there's in the meantime another i7 board w/ 3 contiguous slots for us pcix card guys (since no one else here seems to mention using this board)...

now if I can just replace the legacy Unitors w/ midi interfaces sporting 64 bit drivers...!

sorry for the false promise guys...there's are indeed problems w the above-described setup...

plays back 40-ish stereo tracks just fine...but Omni does not work consistently (i.e., PT freezes)...

will report more but not extensively as I'm not of an age/job circumstances to do free testing...
