Default Re: Why Did You Go For 11 Now?

I spent that last month suggesting that people NOT jump on the band wagon the instant 11 was released, and, for the last eon, I have been touting drive imaging and cloning as a backup plan that EVERYONE should have in place. I NEVER install any update or software(and I mean ANY) without saving a drive image first. I also keep a cloned drive with the last working version(10.3 since I have moved to 10.3.5). I have installed 10.3.6 and 11 on a separate system drive for experimenting, but all my day to day work is done on the 10.3.5 drive(swapping hard drives is not hard, especially if you run a PC and use a trayless SATA drive cage). Certainly, running partitions is another option that works. Having backup images and/or drives can save you from, not only a sour update, but it can save you from a complete drive crash too

I keep a pair of 2TB USB drives that hold nothing but drive images. I can roll back to PT9, LE8, XP with LE8..........i may never do that, but I CAN.....

Albee I for one have ascribed to your suggestion like glue, and it saved my bacon more than once!

I like tinkering in PT11 now so I can get handy within it and get to know it - went from old school analog over the past 36 years to PT two years ago. Fear was replaced with humility and I won't look back! Your "harping" works! Thanks for all you do.

I can get an awful lot done with stock plugins. I'll ReWire with Reaper to get VIs for now, and one day I'll come back to a couple of these projects and wonder "Why did I do it THAT way?"

I believe they have to in order to keep the hackers out of your OS... a few of the last releases/updates were security updates to prevent hacking, etc... maybe small bugs, but basically just glad they are still ON IT.

The future is bright for PT and that's not something you could say for the last few years.
This explains it all. Not to mention I'm opening up a brand new studio so it would be quite stupid to do that with outdated software.
