And, have you actually compared the duet and mbox? If it sounds better, that's great.
yep, and the mbox eats its lunch.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I will surely check out PT9.

Is there a demo version/trial license available for PT9 so I can try out the beast before spending my hard-earned cash?

I've heard the new mbox and the preamps were really lacking, compare to pres I know very well.
This is not the case with the duet's pres, they are not quite high-end, but compare very favourably with hi-end ones.
The mbox3 pres in comparaison were quite dull and 2D. The difference was very obvious on vocals.
First off the duet's pres have 75dB of really clean gain. That says a lot.
Which other interface has preamps with that much clean gain ? The Ensemble (same pres), .... maybe the ULN8($6000) and what else ?
Would you mind telling me how much gain the new mbox preamps have?
I think it's not even said in the specs.

Other than that the conversion seemed good enough.
Better than earlier mboxes.
But not better than Apogee conversion

I am up and running fully with my Apogee Ensemble without any problems what so ever. I have already completely taken my 002R out of my setup. Couldn't be happier!

I'm interested in buying the Duet. Is the Maestro software working with PT9 for low-latency monitoring? I've heard some reports that its not working and not allowing monitoring?? thanks!

I'd also like to know the answer to this question. I'm currently considering both the Duet and the RME Babyface for my laptop rig. Both have cue mix software, which will be essential for working on sessions with plugins transferred from my HD setup. If anyone has any experience, please let us know.

I just purchased a Duet today to try out with Pro Tools 9, so I'll report back with my results after I've had a chance to put it through it's paces!
